FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I Come Visit?

We operate out of our personal home where we live with our other animals. For our safety, the safety of our herd, and our other pets we do not allow people into our home. We gladly offer pictures and videos of our available hedgehogs for you to choose from.  In addition please feel  free to request pictures of our cages and breeding room; we are more than happy to show you where your hedgehog is coming from.

What is a deposit?

We require a $50 non refundable deposit to hold your hedgehog until adoption day. Babies will become available for deposits at 4 weeks old. Most babies are ready to come home between 7- 8 weeks old; we require that they are eating well and weigh at least 200g. Once we contact you with a ready date you will have 7 days to arrange pick up; after that you will forfeit your deposit and the hedgehog will be made available to the next person. This is to ensure that our babies are placed in their forever homes as soon as possible; early bonding is important.

Before Adoption Day

Our babies are family; their safety and care is very important to us. We therefore require pictures of your cage, wheel, and heating set-up prior to being able to pick up your hedgehog.

Adoption Contract

On pick up day we will have an adoption contract for you to sign. Once we receive your deposit we will email you a copy of the adoption agreement. We ask that you take some time to review the agreement and contact us with any questions prior to adoption day.

Health Guarantees

You will also  be asked to sign a health guarantee in addition to the adoption agreement. We offer a 7 day general health guarantee, a 6 month congenital disease guarantee, and a lifetime guarantee against Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS).

If your hedgehog is diagnosed with a congenital disease within the first 6 months of life please contact us. Upon review of veterinary records we will offer a replacement hedgehog of equal value when one is available.

We also offer a lifetime guarantee against Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS). WHS can only be definitively diagnosed upon the animals death and following a necropsy. If your hedgehog is suspected of having WHS we ask that you contact us. It is crucial for the species that breeders evaluate their breeding lines when WHS is suspected. Upon review of a veterinary signed necropsy report, that is consistent with WHS, we will offer a replacement hedgehog of equal value when one is available.  *necropsy, shipping, and all veterinary care is at the buyers expense

We do not offer a guarantee against tumors or cancers of any kinds because these things can have a wide nature of initiating factors. We do kindly ask that you inform us if your hedgehog develops a tumor or is diagnosed with cancer. We again evaluate our breeding lines with the pop up of such things.

Shipping/ Transport

We are now offering ground transport!  If you are interested in adopting from us and will need transportation please discuss this with us prior to placing a deposit.

Re-homing

Our hope is that animals being adopted are going into their forever homes, but we understand that situations may arise that make keeping your hedgehog difficult. If you need to re-home you hedgehog for any reason we ask that you contact us first and we will take them back at no charge.

Does my hedgehog need a friend?

Hedgehogs are solitary animals by nature and therefore do best on their own. Sometimes female litter mates will co habitat without any issues, but it is best to have a second cage just in case fighting begins. Males absolutely can not be housed together because they will fight for dominance which can result in injury or death. Males and females should not be housed together as the obvious pregnancy will result. We will not adopt out pairs of the opposite sex.

Breeding

All of our hedgehogs are sold as PET ONLY, unless discussed otherwise. We ask that you be truthful about your intent to breed so that we can have an open discussion about it. Safety of our animals is top priority and we appreciate your understanding and honesty.

Refunds

Hedgehogs are great animals but their uniqueness is not always fit for everyone, we understand. We will gladly take back any animal that was adopted out by us, but we do not give refunds for any reason. Adopting an animal is a lifelong commitment and we expect that you have done your research on the unique needs of your new family member. If you have any unanswered questions please ask.
