Meet the Breeder

My passion for animals began at a young age. From volunteering time at the local shelter, to capturing every stray that I thought needed a home, my childhood was full of every kind of pet. I got my first hedgehogs in elementary school when my dad brought home two sisters as a family surprise. I became OBSESSED! I mean how can you not, right? Fast forward a couple decades and a few hedgehogs later; Over the Edge Hedgehogs was born. In 2018, after years of ownership and research, I sought the help of an experienced breeder and my journey began. My goal is to produce healthy animals that make great pets. I have a focus on hedgehog lineage, and would have to admit that this is probably one of my favorite parts of being a breeder. Tracking back as many generations as possible makes me feel like a secret detective. I also really enjoy the research in general that goes along with producing happy healthy hedgehogs. When hedgehogs were fist brought to captivity we knew next to nothing about them, and science doesn't exactly focus on hedgehogs, so what we know comes from the most experienced of owners and the advise of veterinary care. There is a huge movement in the hedgehog world that focuses more on the needs of these exotic animals in terms of a more natural approach, I love researching this. 

Aside from hedgehogs, I am very passionate about animal rescue and together my fiance and I have three rescued dogs that have stolen my heart.
